The book of Numbers begins at Kadesh Barnea, right at the edge of the Promised Land. When we get to the end of the book of Numbers, we are back at Kadesh-barnea again.

In spite of all the wonderful instructions the Israelites had in Leviticus, and the adequate provision already given to them, entirely by God, so that they might enjoy His presence among them, when we read Numbers, we see nothing but absolute failure because of the ignorance of the people.
